Who is the author of a legend? No single person. Over the years, many people add to an initial story, which is based on fact.
The famous story The Odyssey, by the Greek poet Homer, tells the tale of the Trojan horse. The epic poems by Homer were learned by heart, and then spoken or sung in public, for many centuries before they were finally written down.
There are many legends about Homer’s life. Some say he was born in Smyrna (modern day Izmir), that he later went blind, and became a travelling poet in order to make a living.
